Don't give up on me, fair readers . . .

Well, The Peanut has been like a bomb going off in our lives. Marci and I have (since the last posting so long ago) moved out of College Town Near Major Urban Center and moved to Medium Urban Center in a historic community. Now, we (including baby, who is now 11 weeks old) commute together to work at the University. We've stacked our courses at the beginning of the week, so we spend three days there, and four days here.

Marci's PhD program is in suspended animation so that she can nurse, spend time with the little man, and keep working.

Postmoderndad's dad's health is now basically fine and stable. The blow-by-blow of it all would have made for dramatic entries, but my heart wasn't in it for a while. They managed to remove 100 percent of his colon cancer, without even the need for chemo or radiation follow up. Just about the time we were all breathing a big sigh of relief, he had to check himself into the emergency room two days after Christmas because his leg had inexplicably swollen. As it turned out, they wouldn't let him leave the hospital for nine days, due to a major (life-threatening) blood clot issue. Several doctors told him that multiple clots had passed from his leg into his lungs. This, they told him, was miraculous, since those things passing through the heart along the way to the lungs typically end the life of anyone that happens to. He's since been put on medication to remedy his current and any future clots.

The Peanut is now 12.3 pounds and loves songs from Phantom of the Opera. We are in the process of getting yet another house ready for sale (the one we purchased near Marci's PhD program, which we lived in for about 2 weeks before Baby and family health issues led us back to my hometown).

There really is plenty more to cover. I haven't even logged any fatherhood reflections yet, but I intend to. Now that dad seems to be on the mend, we are semi-permanently housed in a place we like, and have created space to take stock of it all, I look forward to more writing.

The annual Robert Burns party is this weekend, so I'm trying to come up with a kilt, fast.
